Why Ugandan Soliders will not pull out of Somalia
Despite recent suicide attacks targeting Peace keeping troops and Government official’s in Mogadishu, the Africa Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) says it will continue to pacify the country.
Major Bahoku Barigye, told Africa witness that AMISOM will not discontinue its mission in the horn of Africa country.
“We shall not discontinue our mission because of threats and intimidation from Al-shabaab and Hisbul Islam” Barigye told Africa Witness in an exclusive interview.
He said although AMISOM troops are targeted on a daily basis by militants they were determined to bring peace to Somalia. He said he had personally been intimidated by foreign fighters within Al-shabaab, who spoke his Ugandan dialect . He also denies allegations that AMISOM is in the horn of Africa to advance American interests.
